NASIMU

NASIMU

This beautiful little girl, Mutesi Nasimu, is 10 years old (the age of my daughter at home). She is beautiful and delicate like a flower. She has had a lovely lady sponsor until very recently, but unfortunately she is going through very tough personal situation and she cannot help Nasimu any longer.

Nasimu needs 20 euros per month. She would need a few one-time donations so that we put together a few months of support, or a dedicated long-distance parent who would want to take care of this beautiful flower.

I love Nasimu very much, and her previous sponsor is very dear to me, so I know I would also put her mind at ease.

You can donate for Nasimu via PayPal at:

By using the same address, you can write if you are interested in becoming her long-distance parent.

How To Become A Long-Distance Parent?

How do you become a long-distance parent and join HOCT?

HOCT is a large family of children and long-distance parents who work together in complete harmony. If you feel that this year you want to do something truly special, then you can choose to support a child from Uganda too. A small amount (usually, what you’d spend on a shopping spree on Saturday morning) – let’s say, 25 euros, is more than enough for those children to survive for a month.

HOCT is a safe place to be with. We are a registered charity that has completely legal forms and procedures and is validated by authorities and anti-money-laundering mechanisms. I will tell you and show you what happens to your funds, in the smallest detail (that is humanly possible).

You will receive monthly pictures, you will be able to see your child thrive and change, you will be able to talk on the phone, on video. You will build a bond. It is beautiful at HOCT.

Babirye (in white dress) and Muminu (little boy with a tie) do not have parents, and they are waiting for you with love.

A Beautiful Day

It was a beautiful, good day of my life. The little girl with heart-surgery is well, we have organized funds to get her a bed and other necessities, and a wonderful person decided to be her sponsor. Thank you, Loraine, Maria and Josephine, for all your kindness towards this broken little child!

Apart from this, we worked well, with energy and joy, going through our normal issues and struggles, and slowly fixing everything that is within our power.

In our world, there is so much going on right now; and of all that, only small things are within our power to fix. This morning I had my Tibetan language class, and my beloved Teacher dictated me a profound sentence to write down – “Each morning, you wake up, while others don’t – not anymore. You are lucky. So get out of the bed and do your part in the world.”

And now, each of us does their part. Perhaps you fed a child. Perhaps you shared a meaningful post on Facebook. Perhaps you caressed a little animal. Perhaps you did not get angry at your friend.

It all matters…

SOME PEOPLE

…are like a balm to the soul. Kisige Shaukana Faluk is this little boy in the photo (growing beautifully) and his long-distance mother, Debbie Mifsud is like a wonderland fairy, always looking after him.

I lovee Debbie. She writes such thoughtful messages; she never rushes; her communication is warm and beautiful and she makes me feel that not only the child matters to her, but also myself. She never forgets to tell me a kind word, or to ask me how I am. And towards Faluk she pours all her love and generosity, that this little boy actually considers her – his true Mother.

Through my work, I got to meet the best, most inspiring side of humanity, and this is why I could never give up, no matter how hard it is.

There are many other people like Debbie and this year I want to tell you all about them, so that you see that there ARE good people out there.

ON SMILING

(yet again)

A lot of beautiful work was done today, and also more funds for the Windows have arrived! Truly thrilled and happy about all our common accomplishments!

Enjoy the photos of these sweethearts and be happy that such kindness exists in our world!

For the new friends to know, as well as for the old friends who keep asking: we do not ask the children to smile. Some of them do not even know how to smile, some of them do not wish to, most people from this culture prefer not to smile when their photo is taken, but…

MOST IMPORTANTLY:

The children should not need to feel that they must do something for their food. What shall I tell them: “Smile, or your sponsor will be upset?” I cannot do that. It is not ethical.

If they smile, they smile. If they do not smile, then they do not, and it should be perfectly alright. They really do not need to do anything for their food, they do not need to “deserve” it.

I smile. Each and every single day of my life, I work on HOCT tables, communication and finances, and regardless of what the people tell me (which varies from “thank you” to “what if this is a scam?”) I keep my smile and do not let my happiness wither.

I smile, but they do not have to.

Information about Medical Insurance

HOCT offers the possibility to purchase a medical insurance for a child in our community at a very symbolic price of 10 euros for the whole year 2025 (unlimited treatments and medication).

PayPal: contact@helponechildthrive.com

Normally, this is done for the child you are sponsoring, but if you can afford, offer this to a child without sponsor. Take the first step into seeing how HOCT is like and you will enjoy wonderful updates and a peace of mind like nothing else, because the amount of illnesses in Uganda is large… and you will be giving a child a way out of that danger.
