MARY KWAGALA

MARY KWAGALA

This beautiful little girl with gorgeous hair is Mary and she is 4 years old. She lives in the village of Idudi with her grandmother and she has been brought to us for assistance, as they don’t have so much food.

I hope that Mary steals someone’s heart and that she will receive the help she needs, so that she can grow up free of stress, with good and nutritious food, so that she enjoys her childhood!

Fingers crossed, little one!

CEMENT

I’ve always liked this quote by Israelmore Ayivor:

“Your dreams are like the cement. If you water it with actions, it becomes a hard concrete mass. But if you leave it exposed and unwatered, the air will easily blow it away.”

Two years ago, some of our dear children in Uganda went to my colleague Mugoya and said:

“We would like to have our own school — with teachers you would choose for us, because you always choose what’s best… and then Madam Vero makes it happen!”

And so… we started building a school.
Mind you — I knew nothing about construction (though I’m sure my dad would’ve been delighted to see me try!). But learning came one brick at a time.

Now, HOCT School in Uganda is almost ready. ❤️
We’re currently building a kitchen — a space where good, nutritious food will be prepared daily for the children, helping restore and sustain their health.

We already have the bricks and the cement.
Next, we need:
🟡 Sand + Lake sand — 300 €
🟡 Aggregates — 150 €

With gratitude deeper than the foundation itself, my love and thanks go to my “cement angels” (I know, poetry officially died there 🤣):

Kristyl Gravina
Ioana Dorin Munteanu
Joe Grech
Pauline Abela

BOUNTY (not the chocolate)

I sometimes tell my friends that my life is a comedy, and they kinda’… agree 😃

In my long humanitarian work for Unganda, a country which I love deeply, I was faced with the most surreal situations, apart from the very real, very normal daily work that you all see. The surreal, the pure Franz Kafka moments are those in which people try their best to… deceive me, or other sponsors, and I find out.

That is generally… not a good moment, to put it mildly.

As a practitioner of non-violence, I usually tell the rogues (when they are caught) that they get to choose between facing ME, and going to PRISON, and… you see… everyone chooses the second variant. Smart.

One day, a guy pretended to be dead – it was so hilarious to see him in bed, with napkins stuffed up his nose – mind you, he was a dead body 🤣- just to get away with the fact that he’d stolen 6000ish euros from a very good lady in Europe (his best sponsor!)

Some other time, another guy failed to give the food he was supposed to distrbute to the poor people (he just placed it in their arms for the photo, and then took it away – some level of deceit and shamelesness, no?) He served horrible time in prison, because I do not let such people get away with it.

Because of being a bad girl, there are currently two bounties on my head. Mamma mia, how fun! I feel like in a Western movie, with those posters… Wanted… dead or alive, but preferably dead… reward: $60 🤣🤣🤣

So if Bounties are what works there, I offered one too, for the safe location and retrieval of a missing child from our community (missing from July). The good lady that sponsored the child felt helpless, worried and depressed, because she is a loving, kind and dedicated soul and… who wouldn’t freak out?

And… we found the child, because I do not let children go missing and people (sponsors) go mad with worry. so yeah. We found Namukuve. Kris, I hope the news will brighten your day, beloved friend!

Very special thanks to:
🌷 Bugweri Central Police Station
🌷 The Officers who performed the field work (cannot disclose names)
🌷 The Informers (cannot disclose names, but you know who you are)
🌷 Mugoya Swaliki the person who works the most in this world!
🌷 Kristyl Gravina for trusting me that it will be done

All the previous persons who came to me in the past and required that I find their missing children, and I did, which helped me build up my own confidence that every good purpose can be accomplished – and also my own network of find-and-rescue.

Mamma mia, we’re good!

NABIIRA

How cool that her name has two “i”!
This beautiful sweetheart is in need of a long distance parent. She is a full orphan, living with her grandmother, and she is just 4 years old.

She is… as you can see… beyond adorable! Absolute cuteness overload.

If you wish to become a long-distance parent, it is a very good day to do so 🌷🌷

LOVE ISLAND & INSULA IUBIRII

I have been working so much lately, that my head is dizzy with things to do, in ten directions – and I love every second about it. No, I haven’t binged reality shows 🤣

There are a few emergencies where we can help, towards which we can focus our love and save, literally save those delicate lives.

🧲 CHENCAL – ALBINO CHILD

This sweet albino boy (brother of another albino girl already in our program) has been brought to us for assistance. He is 3 years old and he needs help. He needs:

– urgent batch of food (25-30 euros)

– sunscreen (to be sent from Europe in a parcel)

– a long-distance parent – quite urgent, because albino children are very endangered in Uganda

🧱 BRICKS for HOCT school

– Only 310 euros are left to be able to get all the necessary bricks for HOCT School Kitchen. Thank you Krystle Kri for the donation and also the Anonymous Donor!

🌺 Consider offering 10 euros for the bricks as we really want to finish the school

🐱 My friend Josho Adrian Cirlea saved two more kitties – a mother and baby, it seems. I lost count how many animals he saved. He is trying his best to feed them all, so if you wish to help an animal today, any small amount offered to him will be put to extremely good use. I know Josho personally and I visited his temple and the cats he shelters, and I vouch for this cause.

HOW DO YOU BECOME A LONG-DISTANCE PARENT AND JOIN HOCT?

🙂 HOCT is a large family of children and long-distance parents who work together in complete harmony. If you feel that you want to do something truly special, then you can choose to support a child from Uganda too.

🙂 (Yes, I know, there are children who need help everywhere; in your own countries too; do not ask me to justify my choice. I work where my own life and my own choices have brought me)

🙂 A small amount (usually, what you’d spend on a shopping spree on Saturday morning) – let’s say, 25 euros, is more than enough for those children to survive for a month.

🙂 HOCT is a safe place to be with. We are a registered charity that has completely legal forms and procedures and is validated by authorities and anti-money-laundering mechanisms. I will tell you and show you what happens to your funds, in the smallest detail (that is humanly possible).

🙂 You will receive monthly pictures, you will be able to see your child thrive and change, you will be able to talk on the phone, on video. You will build a bond. It is beautiful at HOCT.

🙂 All our legal documents are published on our website.

🙂 You can start by sending me a message or a friend request, I do not mind either!

☹ N.B. This beautiful baby in the below photo needs urgent help – he has juvenile osteoporosis. He is just 3 years old and he has been abandoned by his mom.

NAFU: WHEELCHAIR NEEDED

This sweet girl (who does not have a sponsor) is called Nafu. She is 12 years old, this sweetheart (barely looking 6!)
She has great difficulty in walking. We want to get her a wheelchair, which costs 140 euros.

If you think you can contribute to this small goal, we will have done something very important for this unfortunate child.

JUMA

JUMA

This sweet bundle of joy, a happy little angel called Juma (4 years old) needs some luck to find a long-distance parent, or, at least, funds for a batch of food (he’s never received anything).

Fingers crossed, little one! Let me hope that you capture someone’s heart today!

ABOUT JEWELLERY

🚫Not an advert!

At HOCT, we do not usually get companies as sponsors. This has happened very rarely – and don’t think of big names – usually companies of our regular sponsors and friends.

I am not even sure how these people from LÖF heard about us, but a fact is that a couple days ago, I received a donation from them, which allowed me to save a few little lives (I scheduled single mothers with babies, and two other girls who suffered from malnutrition); I exchanged a few emails back and forth, and was an absolute joy.

They asked for nothing in return – like the true good people do. They did not ask me to write about them, nor to send them photos, nothing at all – it doesn’t get any better than this. This is true humanity, at its best.

This company sells jewellery, but they also give a beautiful lesson in kindness – which is the most important ornament that the human being can wear.

NOTEBOOK PRO

I have so many wonderful stories to tell you because so many great things happen every day! But these days, this boy has just filled my heart! He had come to the office to show off some of his notebooks, how proud he was!

His name is Miracle – yes, just like that. And Miracle is just attending school thanks to the love and care of his long-distance mother, Claire, who made it all possible. He is so happy and so joyous to attend school because he knows it perfectly well – this is the only way for him to build himself a better future.

Well done, Miracle, sweet boy! We are very proud of you and seeing your notebooks was such a treat! Keep it up – you have a beautiful handwriting!
