HOW TO BECOME A LONG-DISTANCE PARENT

Dear beloved new friends, that want to become a long-distance parent: I am happy to hear that! We have many children that need help.

Our method consists in pairing a child (in vulnerable position) to a person willing to help (you), so that you can grow and develop a beautiful relationship together over time, and so that you can see the progress and the change you make. Believe me, your impact will be extraordinary!

Financially, children need 20-30 euros / month – includes a lot of food that lasts for a whole month.

I encourage you to talk to any of our actual sponsors beforehand and consolidate your trust, as we should start from a place of mutual understanding and not of doubt.

Remember, we are a charity, so please do not ask the child to do anything “in order to” deserve the support (such as, to condition your support by phone calls, or smiling, or learning well…). If you give, it is because you want to, and without expecting a benefit.

We are a registered charity. All our legal documents are on our website: www.helponechildthrive.com.

Whenever you feel ready, come to me!

Just a Normal Day at HOCT

It was a day with a little bit of everything: food distribution, phone calls, emergency medical treatments, new cases registration and documentation, clinic supplies purchase. At the end of the day, we are tired, but we have done our part in our world, so we are happy.

You will notice a little boy called Igalo in the photos. He suffers from hydrocephaly and we are going to attempt to treat his condition in the near future.

Work on December 11, 2023

Mondays are usually difficult for everyone, but somehow, they are my favourite day of the week. I have high spirits and good motivation and I work with fresh energy and joy.

You see children in all my daily posts, but I know their lives, and each of them has a story that inspires me and gives me strength to continue this work.

Mary, a young mother with two babies who do not have names; Teddy, who is HIV-positive, but who always dresses with great care, as a sign of respect for her sponsor; Roham, who learnt how to say “Multumesc” (“Thank you” in Romanian) to thank the beautiful soul that fed him this month; Kagoya, with a dreamy look on her face – perhaps she pictures her future; Shield, having a very particular name, special and poetic; Babirye, smiling brightly and enjoying the generosity and grace shared by Ernest; Apollo, one of the five children lovingly nurtured by John and Patti.

Butterflies in my day, those come, then they go, and others will come tomorrow; each day, I work with love and gratitude.

Happy Friday!

It’s been a beautiful day, full of joy and hard work.

Some of our children… Wamago Alunat in the arms of his mom, Sofia – he has several birth abnormalities, but we love him so much.

Byansi Trevor, so small and yet a veteran at HOCT!

Nakanda Ramella, beautiful and delicate ❤

Rebecca Shanel, a perfumed name.

And many others…

Muwanguzi

Do you remember this little baby? More than a year ago, he came to HOCT for help. His legs were very weak, as if the bones did not have the correct density, he could not stand, nor crawl. His appetite was reduced and he was very unwell.

Together with the good people of HOCT, we bought him some special shoes and a loving long-distance parent toom this little one under their wing and fed him very good food, month after month.

Slowly, our little Muwanguzi became stronger, gained weight and started crawling, interacting with other children, playing and, eventually… walking.

It is a very happy, amazing day of my life to see this little child walk, to see him in good health, thriving and developing well. I feel I have not lived in vain.

Madorian Cachia, thank you for having made this miracle possible!

Friday at HOCT

It is a beautiful day at HOCT, Friday, and the first day of December. It was a bank holiday today, but we worked nonetheless as we plan our days way ahead.

It was a day with all things; food, cakes, parcels, phone calls and letters.

We are happy.

Happy Birthday!

It is the last day of the Month, so usually on this day we celebrate the Birthdays of the children born on that particular month. We love getting them together, so that they chat, socialize and play a little bit. They share a cake together and they have a lot of fun.

There is nothing more important than making a child feel that their date of birth matters – for someone out there.

It was a beautiful, joyous day, we are happy and grateful.

Mid-Week Joy

Today we worked for many hours, way after nightfall. But it was good effort; many children came and picked their food, and they played together outside, enjoying the somewhat better weather.

It is so wonderful to see some of them laugh and smile happily. Those spontaneous photos are always the best; they rarely smile upon command, because they do not understand the request; but when they are just themselves, they are simply happy – and you know why? Because they feel your love.
