How does HOCT work?

Responding to an FAQ.

  1. Preparation and Commitment: Before embarking on this journey, it’s essential for both the volunteer (you) and the child (that I’ll select for you) to understand the commitment involved. Building a relationship requires time, effort, and emotional investment. Both parties should be prepared to prioritize regular communication.
  2. Communication Channels: Utilizing video calls, messaging apps, and other digital platforms can facilitate frequent and meaningful interactions between the volunteer and the child. Ensuring a safe and secure environment for communication is paramount, especially when dealing with vulnerable individuals.
  3. Financial Support: Providing financial assistance to cover basic needs like food demonstrates a tangible commitment to the child’s well-being. Clear communication regarding the amount required and the preferred methods of payment will help streamline the process. Be honest with me and I will always be there to support you.
  4. Guidance and Support: As the facilitator of this program, my role in guiding both the volunteer and the child is… let’s say… important. Offering support, resources, and assistance with financial transactions ensures a smooth and positive experience for everyone involved.
  5. Emotional Bonding: Encouraging the development of a nurturing and supportive relationship between the volunteer and the child is at the heart of this initiative. Empathy, understanding, and genuine care can foster a sense of belonging and trust, laying the foundation for personal growth and transformation.

It is very beautiful at HOCT. Come join us.

A Grandmother and a Child

I often tell you that grandmothers are my true heroes in my work. They take the little ones and shelter them, and protect them, and they do their very best to provide them with food.

Look at this beautiful grandmother. Her name is Loy. Her grandson is called Kanza. He is so happy to be at HOCT, to receive something, to be with other children.

Grandma Loy and Kanza are blessed to have received a little bit of help from a friend in my country, Anda. She often feeds many other children without sponsor, along with her own child. For many, this little food is the difference between life and death. They wanted to say “Thank you” in Anda’s language (Romanian). Multumesc! Thank you, Anda, and all friends.

How To Do This

At various intervals, people ask me how they can become long-distance parents.
Is it rewarding? Yes. You will literally save a life.
Is it difficult? Not at all. Unless you have a talent for complicating things.
Is it legal? HOCT is 100% legal. You have access to my professional tools, pages, website and also to my personal Facebook profile.

So, how does this work?

Our method consists in pairing a child (in vulnerable position) to a person willing to help (you), so that you can grow and develop a beautiful relationship together, and so that you can see the progress and the change you make.

We aim to establish a good communication between you and the child, you will talk on the phone (on video, I mean), exchange messages, and you will take care of your child just as you would do with your own child. They get very attached to us, so you should be 100% sure you want to do this.

Financially, children need 20-30 euros / month – includes a lot of food that lasts for a whole month.

Funds can be easily sent via PayPal, bank transfer and even Revolut (if you have a bit of patience with this app which lately has become difficult) – I will be here to guide you, whatever you choose.

If you do not want to commit to a single child, you can send a general donation and I promise you, you will still save lives, and you will still see the results.

A Symphony of Grace

To uplift a child in need is to compose a symphony of grace, where every note resonates with the melody of belonging and acceptance. It is to sculpt a sanctuary of safety amidst the chaos of existence, where innocence flourishes and fears are cast aside like autumn leaves in the breeze.

In the tender embrace of compassion, wounds are transformed into wisdom, scars into stories of triumph over adversity. Thus, to help a child in need is not merely an act of charity, but a sacred duty—a testament to the inherent beauty of the human spirit and the boundless potential within each soul to illuminate the world with love.

Intertwined Destinies

In the sanctity of our shared journey, let us recognize that our destinies are intertwined, and that the measure of our humanity lies not in the breadth of our possessions, but in the depth of our compassion. For in extending the hand of friendship to those who wander in the wilderness of isolation, we sow seeds of hope that blossom into gardens of belonging.

With each act of kindness, we breathe life into the forgotten corners of the world, painting the canvas of existence with strokes of grace and benevolence. Let us sculpt monuments of empathy, monuments that stand as testaments to the enduring beauty of the human spirit, transcending the boundaries of time and space.

A Timeless Melody

In the symphony of life’s chaos, there exists a timeless melody: kindness. It’s a soft whisper amidst the clamor, a gentle breeze in the tempest’s fury.

Kindness, a language spoken by all, yet understood by the heart alone, holds the power to mend the broken and illuminate the darkest paths. It’s the tender embrace that heals wounds unseen, the delicate petals that bloom in the garden of the soul.

A Brushstroke of Kindness

In the gentle flutter of a butterfly’s wing, in the whispered words of encouragement, in the selfless acts of generosity, lies the essence of grace that transcends all boundaries. It is in these fleeting moments that the fractured fragments of our world begin to mend, as if touched by the tender caress of a healing balm.

Each act of kindness, a brushstroke of hope upon the canvas of despair, paints a picture of unity and compassion, stitching together the torn fabric of humanity with threads of empathy and understanding. Like a symphony of stars dancing across the night sky, these moments illuminate the darkness, guiding us towards a brighter dawn.

For in the quietude of kindness, lies the promise of redemption, and in the radiance of grace, the world finds renewal. So let us nurture the seeds of kindness within our hearts, and watch as they blossom into gardens of compassion, where love reigns supreme, and healing begins anew.

Being There for Others

In the hearts of those who help others, there’s a deep well of care, especially for kids who suffer the most. Working to ease their pain is tough—it can hurt inside. But every day, they give their all, knowing their efforts matter.

Being there for others means facing tough moments that can wear you down. But there’s also a strong belief that kindness can change lives.

It’s not about getting praise—it’s about making a difference, even in small ways. And even though it’s hard, and things may seem uncertain, the joy of helping and seeing smiles on children’s faces makes it all worth it.

Let’s keep going, side by side, spreading kindness and building a better future. Our actions, no matter how small, make a big difference.
